Online Safety Tips

OFF

As we move through the year, it is always important to stay vigilant with children online. With darker nights and colder weather, children are more likely to engage in online entertainment to fill their free time.

Here is a website with a range of resources to support parents/carers and their discussions with children.

Common Sense Media is a really good resource for looking into new apps and websites that children can access that are unfamiliar to parents. It also contains a range of tips for parents/carers to support their children online.

IMPORTANT NOTE: As children look to receive new games and devices for Christmas, please be very aware of the opportunity for them to be contacting other people online. Otherwise innocuous, safe looking games can be a real danger due to the chat rooms and online conversations that children can access.

As always, an open and non-judgmental approach to online behaviour is essential with children as they learn to manage risk and relationships online.
